I suffered an uncommon injury in high school as a pitcher that lead me down an 8 year road of depression, hopelessness, and defeat. The injury is known as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which is a compression injury to the major nerves, artery, and vein that supply your arm. The constant overhead motion of throwers can sometimes cause the space that these structures travel through to close which can lead to bloodclots and can damage the signal of the nerves to your arm and hand.

I had many surgeries over the course of close to 8 years which left me worse off and with an arm that I could barely use for daily life let alone throw a ball. I had traveled to top doctors all over the country, only for them all to say that they didn’t know how to help me and that I would never live a normal life again or be without pain. I wouldn’t accept that answer, however. With my back against the wall and nothing else to lose, I took it upon myself to figure out how to heal myself. I was not going to let this massive obstacle define or control my life. So I did just that. I healed myself. With nothing more than pure grit, determination, and the unwillingness to quit no matter what. Currently, I am no longer in pain and am in the best physical condition of my life.

If I had to choose one word that represented Finn Company…it would be resilience. We’re looking to build a community of like-minded people who embrace the “never quit” mindset and have a relentless pursuit towards becoming the best versions of themselves.
